During the last month i was working on this series of new characters. It is inspired by scared children during the dictatorship in Chile. It is the first part of the project, using woodcut technique. Thanks to pictoplasma for the Workshop where i first experimented with this technique. And even greater thanks to Peter and Babel for sharing the marvellous atelier in the old Printing shop at the Kreuzberg Museum.

Different to most places I have been young people in Prizren and elswhere in Kosovo spend a lot of time at cafes. It definitely seem to be the no. 1 activity in the balkans for young people.

At Tabu Jazz, an alternative little cafe/bar I met a emergent local graffiti artist.

His name is Izzy, he lived for a long part of his life in Germany, but he was forced to go back to Kosovo 9 years ago.

Things in Kosovo are difficult, expecially the job situation for young people. I hope times will change.

I really felt the urge to paint some of my Lucilux world in Kosovo to give an impulse for artistic expression in this time of transition.

Between Prizren and Peia we stopped in a little kosovarian village. When some children came by, i let them have my white paint and together with them, drew on the road, instead of waiting around in the bus.

this two artist from Sarajevo, who lived for a month in the gallery "10 m²" - living on exactly ten square meters. An experement between public and private space.

Hey! Friday 10th of September, we (Funny Fun & me)
will organise a block party in Kreuzberg.

This time, it’s more like an art-performance, as we gonna go
from Spätis to Spätis (small shop for cigarettes, mags and drinks)
to paint over their window display.

There’re gonna be music, drinks and fun for everyone ...

Description of the Projekt

GERMAN Version

Der Spätkauf hat sich seinen Platz in der Stadt erobert! 24 Stunden Getränke und andere Notwendigkeiten für das tägliche (Nacht-)Leben haben den Späti zu einem multikulturellen, viel besuchten Ort gemacht, an dem sich Menschen jeder Couleur begegnen und wieder auseinander gehen.

Funny Fun und Lucilux feiern den Siegeszug des Spätis mit Kunst für alle - an einem Ort an dem jeder Mensch Kunst bekommt, egal wo er herkommt, oder welcher Szene er angehört. Der Späti, ein offener Durchgangsort für mehr als Bier, Kippen und Schokoriegel.

Am 10. September gestalten Funny Fun und Lucilux 5 Spätis in Kreuzberg 36 kunstvoll neu – ihre Schaufenster, Zeitungsständer und Schilder. Die Aktion läuft von 14 bis 19 Uhr. Vorbeikommen!

ENGLISH Version

Spätis have taken over the city! Drinks and other necessities for your daily (night) life have made these 24-hour mini-marts highly frequented, multicultural sites where people from all walks of life come together for a few moments and then disperse in all directions again.

Funny Fun and Lucilux are celebrating the triumph of Spätis with art for all – here you’ll find art no matter where you come from or which scene you belong to. Spätis as gateways for more than just beers, cigarettes and candy bars.

On September 10, Funny Fun and Lucilux will restyle the shop windows, newsstands and signs of 5 Spätis in Kreuzberg 36. The action will take place between 2 and 7 pm.

TURKISH Version

Spätis artik şehrin her yerinde! Içecek ve yiyecek ihtiyaçlarınızı karşılayan bu mini-market 24 saat hizmetinizde bulunduğu gibi de gece hayatın canlılıgında her türlü ırktan gelen insanların birbirleriyle karşılaştığı merkez haline gelmiştir.

Funny Fun ve Lucilux, Spätisin bir sanat amacıyla kullanișini kutluyor. Nereden gelirsen gel, kendine uygun bir sanat bulacaksındır. Spätis artik bira ve sıgara satılma yeri yanısıra bir sanat yeri olarak kullanılıyor.

10 Eylül'de, Funny Fun ve Lucilux dükkan vitrinlerini ve reklam tabelalarini gibi yenileme işlemlerinde bulunacak. Bize katılmak için saat 14 ile 19 arasi Kreuzberg 36'ya gelin.

Lucilux in Africa Edget Baandnet Children Center (EBCC) is a registered Non Profit, Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Awassa, Ethiopia. "Edget Baandnet" is Amharic and means "Growth Together". EBCC is an orphanage providing young orphans with a home and a family to belong to, schooling, food, clothing and medical service. Furthermore, EBCC supports the leading primary school in Awassa, Edget Baandnet Primary School, and has just terminated the construction of an Arts & Craft shop sponsored by the German Embassy, Addis Ababa.
